"C-Day"

Welcome to Columbus Day amici.

My Italian father-in-law says:
"There are two kinds of people - Italians and those who wish they were"
Regardless of which type you are, Columbus Day is worthy of celebration.

Two years ago this holiday became much more significant to me, as I was lucky enough to be one of the gondoliers riding down 5th Avenue in the Columbus Day Parade in New York City.

Thanks to Nereo Zane and his Nikon, here are a few photos from the event.

The banner hanging from the gondola trailer.

Chris Harrison in his trademark black Stetson, Bepi Suste looks on.

Me and my daughters.

John Kerschbaum with hat and rock-hard triceps.

Vittorio Orio talks with retired NYC firefighter Vincent Tummino of the International Columbia Association.

A rare photo of Nereo Zane with Italian flags, Enzo Liszka is in the background on the right.
