"Gondola Catamaran"

Some time ago, a friend of mine pointed out this website to me.
I wasn't all that surprised to see that someone had invented their own "gondola" using an outrigger configuration. Sooner or later this was bound to happen, but the first image definitely brought about a double-take from me.

I'm not looking to spark a firestorm of criticism and/or support for non-Venetian gondolas, although I'm certain I could do just that with this vessel.

Never let it be said that the creative spirit isn't alive and well in America.
Sometimes we come up with something brand new, sometimes we improvise - incorporating things that already exist.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the "Hawaiian Gondola".

According to the website, the boat operates on Atascadero Lake, near Morro Bay, although I just discovered that the boat is now up for auction on e-bay, and the current location is listed as Redondo Beach.
After a little research, I found a photo of another vessel resembling a "gondola catamaran", but after further examination, it actually appears to be a raft with gondola-like facades on port and starboard sides.

I'm sure many of you are eager to share your opinions here.
Feel free to fire away.
I would like to ask two things of you though:
1. if you have something negative to say, include something positive too.
2. as always, please keep it relevant.
