Back in the Saddle

After an exhausting V-Day, we all crashed out, but were back on the boats again this morning for some follow-up cruises. This year Valentine's Day fell on a Sunday which was followed by a Monday holiday. Since a lot of folks didn't have to go to work, we got a nice second wave of business today.

Here's a shot of John Kerschbaum rowing away on the Wedding Gondola for a late morning excursion.

Besides St. Valentine Day, it is also the peak time of Carnivale in Venice. I was a bit suprised to see that one of our national TV channels, DunaTV does a full day dedicated Venice-special on the 16th.

They have documentary and live from the street carnevale, the Doge's Ball, interview with the Italian Ambassador, another documentary about the city and acqua alta, a movie about the young Goldoni and twice more carnivale (2001 and 2008) in the late night.

Sorrowfully it is mostly on Hotbird eurosat only, but DunaII will have some of the carnivale on Galaxy-25 and NSS-806 at 17:10, 22:20 and 04:55 next dawn (all times are Central European CET, about 9h east of California).

It's all in hungarian and I don't think closed captioning is provided. Anyhow, some of it is just music and video.
