"Maciarele" Video

As I understand it, the "Maciarele" are the younger rowers in Venetian vernacular. "Little fish" has also been used to describe these young vogatori.

Here's a YouTube clip that's fun to watch:

I'm not sure how I feel about an Avril Lavigne song for Venetian rowing, but then again, I've been accused of using some strange or inappropriate music a time or two myself.

I published a post in October of '08 on "The Little Fish".

Bepi Suste is very active with his youth rowing program.

I asked Nereo Zane recently about him and he said:
Bepi is good as usual: always busy with his "maciarele".

With programs like Bepi's, it's no wonder Venetians are so good at voga-alla-Veneta - they start early.

For those of you that never met Bepi Suste: he is the man with yellow T-shirt and white basaball hat with his maciarele. Just pause the video at 1'28".
