Family Rowing lessons

photos by Tamás Fehér

For centuries Venetians have passed down the art of voga-alla-Veneta to the next generation.
Here's a pair of photos that really brings the point home.

I love how the two girls are rowing the same remo together.
But what's even better is the young boy sitting with his arms crossed, looking annoyed that the girls get to row.

Of course there are a few other family members on hand to take pictures.
And yes, there's a big Honda outboard hanging off the back of that boat, but the guy's still got forcole and remi.
A true Venetian can row just about anything.

In America, if your kids don't wear life vests you will be fined. Reason #49 why I want to move to Venice.

In Venice, if you want to drive a nail into the wall to hang a picture, you need to bribe a minimum of three officials to receive at least seven permits or you will be fined. Reason #1449 for moving to America?

Frankly, America is still the land of the free when it comes to lack of bureaucracy and an american would resort to starting a revolution if forced to live in Italy (or anywhere in Europe) for more than a year!

A life vest at least makes some sense, compared to regulating the curvature of cucumbers, as in EU.
