When Nereo sent me an e-mail entitled "Roof Garden", I expected to see one of those traditional purposely-planted sanctuaries on the roof of a Venetian palazzo.

Well, it may be a "palazzo", and there's definately a "garden" present, but this certainly isn't what I expected to see.
The photo was taken just a stone's throw from Squero San Trovaso.
So how did this happen?
My guess is that airborne seeds blew up under the roofing tiles and sprouted after a rain, or perhaps our "garden" was fertilized when the seeds were deposited with healthy dollops of bird poop.
It's so cool how nature works!
