Here's a photo taken on a quiet canal in the Santa Croce district, not far from Piazzale Roma.The boats in the foreground are a typical cross-section of non-rowing boats in the Venetian lagoon.
At the end of the waterway, in the background, you can see the tail of a green gondola. The very same one I had at the top of the blog a few months ago.
