Once again the odd spectacle of rowers dressed as old women with brooms took place on the Grand Canal. The Regat delle Befane is an event that appears to be unique to Venice.Nereo Zane covers the story on his site vogaveneta.it.

Last year, with the help of Nereo, I gave some background on this annual occurance that often has old men, dressing up as old women, and rowing mascarete with brooms propped up in their boats.
