A New Boat on the Water

Mark at Gondola Paradiso sent me this great shot of his new boat,
freshly launched in Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, California.
This is an exceptional piece of boatbuilding.
She's the first "batela a coa de gambaro" in the U.S., custom-made
by some talented folks at the Northwestern School of Wooden Boat Building in Port Hadlock, Washington.
In keeping with Italian tradition, she's named "Maria" - after his mother.

Big congrats to Mark on his new boat.
She looks fantastic!

So great to see a Venetian boat in Oxnard! And a beautiful pupparin in Newport Beach! I am coming back to SoCal (O.C., actually) to live and I will get in touch with you. My dream is to get a sandolo or similar to SoCal, but I have not rowed Venetian style for decades, since I was much younger and growing up in Venice. I really enjoy your love for our rowing tradition and the obvious knowledge and respect you have for it.
