Vogalonga 2012 - Teaser Shot

This is just a teaser shot from the boat that American Gondolier Peter Dever was on this year for the Vogalonga.

In future posts I'll share more views from Peter's perspective.

Grazie Peter!

Today on the Lake

This afternoon I stooped by the docks on Lake Las Vegas to meet with my staff and take a look at the boats I have out there.

It was, as my manager out there, Matthew Schenk put it:
"the kind of day that makes people want to move here"
...and it was - gorgeous weather, not too much wind, and in the high seventies to low eighties.
The humidity was low, making the temperature quite comfortable.

Here are some shots I snapped of the gondolas there on the lake.

GondOlympics - On the Water

photos by Tim Reinard
Joe, ready to go!

In the days that have followed the GondOlympics in Providence,
I've been on the phone hearing stories some of the participants and have received some good photos as well.

Here are a few images taken by Tim during the day, following some of the competitive rowing activities.

In between sprints.

Aaand they're off!

Joe Gibbons and unknown ganzer.

Steve - waiting for the results.

My thanks go out to those of you who have shared your experiences with me.  I really wish I could have made it to the event, but you've at least helped me to imagine what it was like.

GondOlympics - Bridge Spectators

Tim sent me this image, calling it "part of the peanut gallery on the bridge".
This was taken during one of the competetive rowing events at the GondOlympics in Providence a week ago.

There were approximately two-hundred people who showed up throughout the day to watch, cheer, and in some cases get a free gondola ride.

According to Tim, he thinks the rower in this photo was "Boston Charlie".

Milestones

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Today is Tim Reinard's birthday,
and his wife Dawn will celebrate another year real soon too.
We all, to one extent or another, like to celebrate milestones.
Sure, some of us begin to lose our enthusiasm about turning another digit on the "age gauge", but there are other things to celebrate as well;
today we had two of them:

1. Roberto at NOLA Gondola in New Orleans marked his 200th proposal on board the gondola this evening.
Congratulations to Roberto, AND to the happy couple who chose such a fine venue to make it official.

2. Thirteen years ago today, on this very day, The Gondola Company launched their first boat in Coronado.

I'm sure there are many other significant milestones that can be associated with today, but the ones listed above are good enough for me.

Congrats to all.

Happy Birthday Tim!

Happy birthday to one of my favorite people in the gondola world - Tim Reinard of Sunset Gondola.

Photo from the post "Sunset Gondola hosts a Row" - the first get-together I was lucky enough to attend.
